Interview with a Betabound All-Star: Bryan T.

A person’s journey with beta testing can start with applying to a single test and can evolve into a passion for helping shape the future of technology. What started as a simple application for a home network router test later turned into a rewarding journey of discovery, feedback, and continuous learning for Betabound All-Star Bryan T. Read on to hear about his experience, advice for newcomers, and what keeps him coming back for more!
What got you into beta testing?
I honestly can’t remember how I found it, possibly a blog post, but there was a beta test opportunity for a home network router that I applied to and was chosen for. I continued to test multiple devices for that company that used the Centercode platform, and through that, started applying for beta tests directly through Centercode. I applied for many beta testing opportunities before finally getting chosen for one, but my patience paid off!
How did you feel the first time you were selected for a beta test?
I had really gotten to the point where I thought I would never get chosen, so I was very excited.
What’s been your favorite part about being a beta tester?
I really enjoy everything related to technology, and having the opportunity to help shape a product and ensure it is ready for release is very rewarding.
What makes being a beta tester for Betabound unique?
There is a wide range of products and services available to test, so you never know what opportunity could pop up next. I also feel as though the Betabound platform has evolved over time, making it very easy to submit feedback.
What motivates you to keep devoting your time to beta testing?
The opportunity to try new technologies and help make them better.
How do you hear about new beta tests to apply for?
Usually from direct emails from Betabound or from following Betabound on social media.
Any advice you would give to newer beta testers?
Don’t get frustrated if you don’t get chosen right away. Keep applying for anything that interests you. Once you are chosen, make sure to provide prompt and honest feedback. Don’t be afraid to be honest, even if you feel as though your feedback may not be something they want to hear.
What do you like to do for fun?
I like to run, collect records, listen to live music, build on my home automation and entertainment systems, and watch my kids play sports.
